WEEKEND RELAY FOR LIFE RAISES $185,840
The Cancer Societies annual ‘Relay For Life’ was held on Saturday. Parking was an issue as once again large crowds turned out even with the light rain and cool breeze.
Helen Owen reports there were 621 participants registered on 55 teams. 140 cancer survivors registered in the Survivor Lap and were accompanied by many of their caregivers.
“Approximately 120 volunteers worked hard to make the event a huge success.” wrote Owen, “Terrace businesses were once again extremely supportive; we received $17,000 in cash sponsorship contributions and over $36,000 in gift in kind support.”
At the end of the day, after counting all the contributions, Terrace set another record of $185,840. Another milestone was reached as well as, over all, Terrace has surpassed the million dollar mark. To date, Terrace has raised over $1,037,000.00 for Relay For Life.
“Way to go Terrace and surrounding area!” added Owen.
