ACE-IT Carpentry Program Builds a Smokehouse at Hazelton Secondary School
As part of a joint venture between School District 82 and Northwest Community College, a Level 1 Carpentry program is building a smokehouse on Hazelton Secondary School property. The smokehouse will be a wonderful resource that brings the school and community together in a variety of educational ventures around the traditions of smoking and storing fish. The program includes both adults and secondary school students who are obtaining their level 1 certification towards a Carpentry trade. Funding for the smokehouse was a collaboration of community, college and school district funds. We look forward to the celebration when it is completed and the years of teaching and learning, and of course some great tasting fish.
